What Is The Optimal CBD Dose?

On eJuices.com, we’ve discussed what CBD is, who takes CBD and how, and even an authentic CBD experience. During the CBD experience that ran from November 5 to December 4, we often ran into a (very) important question: what is the right CBD dose, and how is this calculated?

CBD is taken for a variety of reasons that promote health and wellness, such as relieving discomfort, promoting restfulness and relaxation, and assisting with mental alertness and focus. However, this can all be compromised if one is unaware of what the right CBD dose is for their body. While various websites have guides on how to properly dose CBD, this also depends on the form factor (i.e. vape, edibles, topicals, tinctures, capsules, etc.) and your individual needs and preferences.

A 2018 Medium post by Aaron Cadena, the editor-in-chief of CBDOrigin.com, suggests that 1-6 milligrams (mg) of CBD per every 10 pounds of body weight is an optimal dose, although this can vary depending on your individual needs and preferences, as mentioned before. If you experience more discomfort or have more issues with restfulness, focus, or mental alertness, you may need to increase the dosage of CBD to adjust for these factors. For example, if you weigh 200 pounds, you would take between 200mg and 1200mg of CBD. Cadena advises CBD users to start on the lower end of your recommended dosage. You should then up the dosage until you feel the full benefits of CBD that will help you with your personal goals (i.e. promoting restfulness, relieving discomfort, etc.).

One of the best ways to keep track of your CBD dosage is to take capsules. Capsules contain an exact amount of CBD, so if your dosage is 16-25mg, you can buy 20mg or 25mg capsules from reputable CBD marketplaces such as CBD.co. If you prefer other methods of taking CBD, you can calculate your dosage through other methods, such as the total CBD (mg) in a bottle divided by the milliliters (ml) of liquid if you are taking CBD tinctures or vape juices. If there is 1000mg of CBD in a 100ml bottle of vape juice, there is 10mg of CBD per ml of vape juice.

Like the majority of things, your experiences may vary and there is no right or wrong way to consume CBD. You should always do your research and buy from reputable marketplaces such as CBD.co.
